Coming May 28, 6 pm: The world has changed radically since Governor Christine Todd Whitman was first elected the 50th Governor of New Jersey in 1994, defeating Jim Florio. Yet, she remains New Jersey’s first, and only, female governor. Whitman went on to serve as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency from 2001 – 2003. Author of It’s My Party, Too: Taking Back the Republican Party… And Bringing the Country Together Again, Governor Whitman will be the guest speaker at the May meeting of the Montclair Republican Club, where she’ll expand on her version of Republican politics:
The defining feature of the conservative viewpoint is a faith in the ability, and a respect for the right, of individuals to make their own decisions – economic, social, and spiritual – about their lives. The true conservative understands that government’s track record in respecting individual rights is poor when it dictates individual choices.
